How to Make a Personal Weekly Budget in 3 Easy Steps

Taking control of your finances doesn’t have to wait for the next month to start.

Mini-Budgets will help you:

  • Stay on track with your money.
  • Create better money habits.
  • Stay accountable to your goals.

You can begin that week with 3 Easy Steps.

  1. Know what’s left in your account.
  2. What do you have to pay this week?
  3. What’s left over?

Open your account and find out how much cash you have left in your account. For example I have left $459.80 left in our checking account. Payday is coming in 8 days. Next, what do I HAVE to pay for? Food for the week $250. Gas $66 and $50 for RESP. That leaves $93.80 left.

I like mini-budgets because they give our family a snapshot of the numbers for the week and I can work with them. I may move $50 to our Entertainment account for a pizza/movie night with the fam jam leaving $43.80.
